🌱 Dane Co. Health Order Delegation + East Side Vehicle Shooting

Happy Tuesday, Madison! Here’s everything you need to know about what’s happening in town today.

First, today’s weather:

Mostly cloudy. High: 35 Low: 12.

Here are the top 3 stories today in Madison:

  1. The Wisconsin Supreme Court is weighing whether they want to reconsider and modify current precedents on the “nondelegation doctrine.” A lawsuit brought on by conservative law firm, Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty, alleges there is a breach of the doctrine in a Dane County ordinance that made enforceable any order that the Dane County public health officer deemed necessary to control the pandemic. If the Supreme Court agrees with the plaintiffs, city and county elected officials would have to vote on public health policy changes rather than delegate that power to health officials. 2. After a shots fired incident on Madison’s east side on Sunday night, the Madison Police Department is looking for the involved suspect(s). Around 10:26 p.m. multiple people called to report hearing gunshots in the McClellan Park neighborhood where officers found several shell casings and an occupied vehicle that had been hit by bullets.(WMTV – NBC15)
  3. Looking for a job in the Madison area? Many businesses are looking for new employees, and Patch has rounded up some of the best local job openings for full-time, part-time, and temporary work. Here are a few of the latest job openings in the area. (Madison Patch)

Doing a “Dry January” or just looking for a flavorful alternative to regular cocktails? Here’s a suggestion: try a non-alcoholic drink from our partners at Betera. Created by an award-winning chef from natural botanicals, Betera’s drinks come in 3 flavors — Ginger-Orange, Elderflower-Lime and Rhubarb-Hibiscus. We tried Ginger-Orange, and it was excellent — lightly effervescent, floral with a hint of bitterness and the sippability of a cocktail.

Betera is offering readers of the Daily a 15% discount on their first order: use PATCH15 at checkout. Highly recommended — you can try Betera here.
